Day 1 -  Lima 

International flight arrival to Lima. Private airport transfer to your hotel with hotel lobby welcome greeting, Peru orientation, and welcome gift from Dargui Tours' travel adviser (Welcome may be following morning depending on time of arrival). Overnight stay. 

Day 2 -  Get to Know Lima (optional day) 

After included hotel breakfast, morning or afternoon half-day tour (4 to 5 hours).. Tour is an optional Lima City Tour or Peruvian Cuisine Gastronomic Tour. 


Lima City Tour will showcase the mixture of Spanish colonial sites near Downtown Lima along with the modern design of Miraflores and San Isidro. The Gastronomic Tour will introduce you to the staples of Peruvian Cuisine throughout several districts of the city. Return to hotel for overnight stay. 


Day 3 - Arrival & Welcome to Cusco 

Early morning reception and transfer to Airport and transfer to your Hotel in Cusco.  Free morning. Because of the high altitude it is advisable that you take a short rest to acclimatize.

Optional free afternoon in Cusco to rest and acclimatize or private half-day Cuzco Tour. Your tour will highlight Cusco’s historic past and blend of Incan and Spanish architecture. The excursion features walk-thru tours of the Cathedral and the ruins of Koricancha .You will also explore the four main ruins just outside the city: the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, Kenko, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. Return to hotel in Cusco for overnight stay. 

Day 4 - Start of Your Trekking Journey

Early morning reception, introduction and transfer in private van to begin your journey. After three-hour transfer, arrival to the trailhead and first breakfast by trek chef.  After first glimpse of large mountains of the Andes, we'll be off on our intrepid Peru trekking adventure by about 8:30.  For two hours, a gradual uphill hike along the Salknatay Valley with glacier views and views of the Salkantay River. Pushing uphill for one more hour,  arrival to the Suyroccocha Lagoon for lunch. Take this break to rest at nearly 4,200 meters to soak in the views, and continue your expedition. towards Salkantay Pass for arrival to the highest point of our expedition and a hot cup of coca at the top of the pass.. Take in the views of Salkantay Peak and clouds lifting over the valleys below. 


After soaking up the views and taking in the thin Andean air, your last two hours will be downhill to our first campsite at Wayracmachay. Enjoy the back side of the mountains and the last bit of sunlight and possibly condors above.  Camp will be ready upon arrival and dinner will follow after a cup of cocoa or coffee. Guides will give you a bit more info on the constellations above before settling down for the night. 

Day 5 - Trek from Wayracmachay to Ccollpapampa Loreta 

As the sun rises, treat yourself to a cup of coffee or coca and the vistas of glaciers in the distance. Breakfast will follow soon and trekking will start at about 7am for our day's objective, Over the first four hours as the trail descends, flora and fauna will change as we arrive to warmer climates and green lush zones with orchids and ferns.. We'll also witness more birdlife. 


After lunch service,we'll be passing by beautiful waterfalls, rivers, and flora through a tropical forest, where local people farm coffee, passion fruit, papayas, oranges and avocados. After four hours in the afternoon, we'll arrive to our campsite just before evening and greeting by the staff. Treat yourself to a shower and a jacuzzi soak or a dip in the mini-swimming pool. Before sun sets, there will be time to tour nearby gardens. Dinner service will follow after nightfall with the sounds of the Salkantay River overheard as you sleep.                                                                                                                                                         

Day 6 - From Loreta to Llactapata

After enjoying sunrise and breakfast service, we'll start the day past a tropical forest and have a visit at an organic coffee farm and options to sample the coffee.. We'll then bridge sections of the Inca Trail for 2 1/2 hours before amazing  get the opportunity to climb part of the Inca trail for two and a half hours. You will see amazing views of the Santa Teresa valley, until you arrive at the Llactapata Inca site just in front of Machu Picchu - our first siting of the grand citadel. We'll learn some history of the site. and will have arrived at our private camp for the night on this short day. After lunch service,  enjoy the views and relax from the hiking before coffee and cocoa and dinner service. Treat yourself to the incredibly clear skies and views of the Milky Way before overnight. 

Day 7 - From Llactapata Mirador to Aguas Calientes Village

After our last breakfast on trail, head downhill for two hours for arrival at the hydroelectric station and nearby waterfall. After you pass this small Inca site of Intihuatana, arrival to the Machu Picchu train road and a three hour walk to the village at Aguas Calientes, located at the foot of the valley of Machu Picchu. En route along Hiram Bingham's route towards Machu Picchu, pass by near flora and fauna, including  tucanets, parrots and orchids. Upon arrival to Aguas Calientes enjoy a packed lunch and check in to your hotel for the evening.with optional evening soak in the thermal waters of the town's namesake. . In the evening, dinner with your trekking chef and overnight in your hotel. 

Day 8 - Capstone Arrival to Machu Picchu & Return to Cusco

At dawn, you begin your journey to Machu Picchu with a short  uphill bus ride where you'll arrive at this fabled wonder of the world.  You'll be guided for two hours as you tour this Inca citadel perched high on a mountain plateau. You'll have two additional hours to explore by yourself and may choose a hike to Huayna Picchu.  After a descent and lunch in Aguas Calientes, a 3-hour iconic train transfer will return you back to Cusco. and overnight at your hotel.  

Please Note - Your ticket on the Expedition Train train line to Cusco is included. However, the VistaDome and Hiram Bingham lines are a great final bookend. Talk to your travel adviser about upgrading your train ticket in advance. 

Day 9 - Return to Lima 

After morning breakfast at your hotel, reception and transfer to your Cusco airport and arrival to Lima with connection to final international destination in Lima (depending on flight time).. Please speak with your travel adviser about additional options for a night in Lima and extension of services.
