Day 1 - Lima
International flight arrival to Lima. Private airport transfer to your hotel with hotel lobby welcome greeting, Peru orientation, and welcome gift from Dargui Tours' travel adviser (Welcome may be following morning depending on time of arrival). Overnight stay.
Day 2 - Get to Know Lima (optional day)
After included hotel breakfast, morning or afternoon half-day tour (4 to 5 hours).. Tour is an optional Lima City Tour or Peruvian Cuisine Gastronomic Tour.
Lima City Tour will showcase the mixture of Spanish colonial sites near Downtown Lima along with the modern design of Miraflores and San Isidro. The Gastronomic Tour will introduce you to the staples of Peruvian Cuisine throughout several districts of the city. Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3 - Arrival to Puerto Maldonado/Lodge
Early morning reception and transfer to Airport and transfer in Puerto Maldonado to river. Transfer via boat up Madre de Dios River (45 minutes) to eco-lodge Inkaterra Reserva Amazonica. Welcome briefing and rest in your personal cabana. Afternoon lunch in dining room.
Afternoon guided walk for an introduction to the diverse flora and fauna of the Amazon Basin. You'll walk past flora such as the impressive Shihuahuaco trees and the exotic bird and insect life. In the evening, twilight river excursion — a guided afternoon boat ride on the Madre de Dios River to watch the nocturnal transformation. Evening dinner service and overnight stay back at the lodge.
Day 4 - Visit to Lake Sandoval & Jungle Canopy Walk
After included breakfast at lodge, visit Lake Sandoval in the Tambopata National Reserve. Glide in a wooden canoe, across a mirror-like lake that's home to howler monkeys, red-bellied macaws, anacondas, side-neck turtles and black caimans. Return to the lodge for lunch.
In afternoon, take the Canopy Walkway to encounter the treetop world. For more than a quarter of a mile, you will walk through the rainforest canopy on a suspension bridge network and may encounter colorful toucans, woodpeckers, trogons, monkeys, and sloths. .You may extend your excursion to watch the sunset from the canopy. . Evening dinner service and overnight stay at lodge.
Day 5 - Visit Gamitana Creek & Hacienda Concepcion
Included breakfast at hotel. Guided boat ride to Gamitana Creek, located 25 minutest from the lodge. Explore the rainforest along the banks of a dark-water creek that's home to piranhas, caiman, turtles and birds. Navigate your way back downstream. .During your return, you'll visit Gamitana Farm to do a short guided tour to see how local farmers grow fruits and vegetables. Return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch, visit to Hacienda Concepcion excursion, a botanical garden with over 200 different plant species, This is followed by a 30-minute canoe trip to look for turtles, sun grebes, and herons. Return to the lodge then optional Rainforest by Night excursion in Inkaterra's Ecological Reserve at night for 2 hours. Visit the forest and experience the fauna activity that awakens in the rainforest after dark, and identify nocturnal sounds. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6 - Butterfly House Visit & Arrival to Cusco
After early breakfast (depending on flight time), you will take a morning boat transfer back to Puerto Maldonado for transfer to airport and flight to Cusco. Reception at Cusco airport and arrival to your hotel.
Depending on arrival time to Cusco, optional half-day welcome Cusco City Tour for introduction to the capital of the Inca Empire and several Inca ruin sites near Cusco. However, if arriving to Cusco late we recommend rest at hight altitude for the remainder of the day to acclimatize. Overnight at your hotel.
Day 7 - The Sacred Valley
Included breakfast at your hotel. Transfer and journey to The Sacred Valley of the Incas. Pisac, our first stop is famous for its Sunday Mass and daily outdoor market, along with a stop to visit ruins in Urubamba. After buffet lunch, visit the Inca Citadel at Ollantaytambo, a complex of ruins distinguished by fine masonry, terraces, fortress walls, and the Temple of the Sun. Return to Cusco for overnight stay.
Day 8 - Arrival to Machu Picchu
Included breakfast at your hotel, then reception and transfer to the train station to board PeruRail’s Expedition Train. Greeting in Aguas Calientes and transfer by bus to explore the World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu For two horus with guide, experience the secret city of the Incas. Never discovered by the Spanish, it remains South America´s most spectacular archaeological site.
Explore Machu Picchu for two more hours on own before returning to Aguas Calientes with Lunch buffet. Train return and transfer to Cusco for overnight stay. (Note that an additional night's stay can be arranged in Cusco or Aguas Calientes for one additional evening of enjoyment and exploration.)
