Day 1 - Lima
International flight arrival to Lima. Private airport transfer to your hotel with hotel lobby welcome greeting, Peru orientation, and welcome gift from Dargui Tours' travel adviser (Welcome may be following morning depending on time of arrival). Overnight stay.
Day 2 - Get to Know Lima (optional day)
After included hotel breakfast, morning or afternoon half-day private tour (4 to 5 hours).. Private tour is an optional Lima City Tour or Peruvian Cuisine Gastronomic Tour.
Lima City Tour will showcase the mixture of Spanish colonial sites near Downtown Lima along with the modern design of Miraflores and San Isidro. The Gastronomic Tour will introduce you to the staples of Peruvian Cuisine throughout several districts of the city. Return to hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3 - Arrival to Iquitos & Embarking on your Amazon Cruise
After early breakfast, private transfer to Lima Airport and arrival to Iquitos. Reception at the airport and private transfer through Iquitos to the port city of Nauta 95 kilometers away with boxed lunch en route.
Upon arrival to Nauta, your Amazonian cruise ship will be ready in the water for boarding and private escort to your own cabin and tour of the ship to view all available amenities before setting off. After taking some time in your private terrace, arrival for to a set of naturalist led excursions. we'll view native flora and fauna, including bird and monkey species, and then will be off to the confluence of the three rivers which form the mighty Amazon. After full dinner service and cocktails, enjoy the starry night from the Amazon before the first night aboard.
Day 4 - Kayak Exploration & Meeting Puerto Miguel Village
After your morning breakfast service, venture along the Yarapa River to explore via kayak and take in the sounds of the jungle. Following this, board a skiff to visit villagers in Puerto Miguel who have called this region their home for generations. Explore some of buildings in the community and visit with local women at an arts & craft market.
After lunch, an exploration at Clavero Lake on board a skiff. With naturalist accompaniment, go deep into the rainforest and see the fantastic diversity of flora and fauna. After nightfall, dinner service on board.
Day 5 - Excursions to Belluda Caño Creek & El Dorado River
After breakfast service, visit to the Pacaya Samiria National Reserve in skiffs to
encounter the famous Amazonian grey and pink river dolphins. The naturalist will also go in more depth in an interpretation of the wide variety of bird species throughout the Amazon, one of the most diverse areas in the world for birdwatching. .
After lunch service, cruise to the Dorado River to watch abundant wildlife in all of its exuberance. Search for items such as snail kites, parrots, scarlet macaws, hummingbirds and others. Then watch as day gives way to night to take in the nocturnal transition and the abundant life of the nighttime. Return to the ship for dinner service, a last night of relaxation on your terrace, and a final night onboard.
Day 6 - Disembarking your Cruise & Return to Lima
After breakfast service, cruise staff will bid you farewell as we pull into port at Nauta. Farewell and land reception for the transfer back to Iquitos. En route, a visit to the
Rescue & Rehabilitation Center of River Mammals to meet and learn about baby manatees The staff here will show you how they rescue and care for creatures of this endangered species and the dangers still posed to them. Final private escort to the the Iquitos Airport and arrival to Lima before connection for your flight to Cusco. Evening reception and private transfer to your hotel for dinner on own and relaxation at your hotel for the evening. .
Please note that depending on flight times from Iquitos to Lima, an additional evening in Lima may be required. You do have the option to end services here or continue the program to Cusco.
Day 7 - Welcome Morning & Afternoon Tour of the Inca Capital
After breakfast service at your hotel, enjoy the morning adjusting to the Cusco altitude and exploring nearby sites on foot. After lunch on own, reception and private pickup for your tour of the capital of the Incas. This visit will highlight the historic past
and blend of Incan and Spanish architecture. Featuring walk-thru tours of the Cathedral and the ruins of Koricancha, you will also explore the four main ruins just outside the city: the Sacsayhuaman Fortress, Kenko, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. Return to hotel, encouraged dinner reservation in Cusco with private transfer, and overnight stay.
Day 8 - Excursion & Overnight to the Sacred Valley
Included breakfast at your hotel. private transfer and journey to The Sacred Valley of the Incas. Pisac, our first stop is famous for its Sunday Mass and daily outdoor market, along with a stop to visit ruins in Urubamba. After lunch, visit the Inca Citadel at Ollantaytambo, a complex of ruins distinguished by fine masonry, terraces, fortress walls, and the Temple of the Sun. Afternoon transfer and welcome to our favorite luxury hotel on the journey --Tambo del Inka Resort & Spa. Enjoy dinner on own, luxury spa services and the amazing pool and lobby. Overnight at hotel.
Day 9 - Capstone Day at Machu Picchu
Included breakfast at your hotel, then late morning departure from your resort on the luxurious Sacred Valley train line towards Machu Picchu. This luxury line provides 1920s-style luxury carriages with lunch service and personalized departure right from the Tambo del Inka hotel before the nearly 3-hour ride to the base of Machu Picchu. Greeting in Aguas Calientes and transfer by bus to explore the World Heritage Site of Machu Picchu For two hours with guide, experience the secret city of the Incas. Never discovered by the Spanish, it remains South America´s most spectacular archaeological site.
Explore Machu Picchu for two more hours on own before returning to board an evening return train with on-board dinner service and late evening arrival to your hotel at Tambo del Inca.
Note that several lodging options exist for these nights including on-site at the Sanctuary Lodge just outside the gates of Machu Picchu. Talk to your travel adviser about this unique experience to personalize your itinerary.
Day 10- Return to Lima
After included breakfast, early morning reception for 3 hour private transfer back to the Cusco Airport and departure towards Lima with connection to final international destination in Lima (depending on flight time).
